Course Convenor: Daniel O’Hagan

Dr Daniel W. O’Hagan has been appointed Associate Professor in Radar at the University of Cape Town and occupies this post from mid-2014. He is our Course Convenor.

In 2014 and 2015, he co-presented a course on Microwave Components and Antennas in partnership with Prof Barry Downing.

Barry Downing

Prof Barry Downing is Emeritus Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Cape Town. Until the middle of 2014, he was the Course Convenor of the Radar Masters programme.

In 2012, he presented a course on Microwave Components and Antennas, and in 2014 and 2015, he co-presented this in partnership with Prof Daniel O’Hagan.

Mike Inggs

Prof Mike Inggs is a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, and runs the Radar Remote Sensing Group.

In 2016, from 26 to 29 July, he co-presented a course on Radar System Modelling with Mr Kumaran Naicker and Dr Jaco de Witt, having previously co-presented this course in 2014.

In 2011 he presented both the Introduction to Radar and Radar Signal Processing courses, and in 2012,  he presented a course on Radar System Modelling.

Riana Geschke

Prof Riana Geschke is an Associate Professor at the University of Cape Town, where she teaches courses in Electromagnetics and Microwave Systems.

In 2014, she and Dr Tinus Stander presented a course on Microwave Filters: Technologies and Practical Design.

Amit Mishra

Associate Professor Amit Mishra is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Cape Town. His interests lie in radar and VLSI.

In 2016, he presented a course on the Fundamentals of Radar Signal and Data Processing, having presented this course in previous years too (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015).

Norman Morrison

Dr Norman Morrison holds degrees in electrical engineering and applied mathematics. In recent years, he worked with Reutech and Armscor on the development of a new type of TWS radar. His book, “Tracking Filter Engineering: The Gauss-Newton and Polynomial Filters” came out of this work.

In 2016, he presented a course on Tracking Filter Engineering – The Gauss-Newton and Polynomial Filters.

Nicole Moodley

Nicole is the Administrative Assistant for Postgraduate Students in the Department of Electrical Engineering.

She is responsible for advising students on the application process, and arranging registration.

Heidi Tait

Heidi is the Administrator of the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Programme in the EBE Faculty.

The CPD Programme organises short courses, workshops and conferences, which provide a means for the ongoing education of professionals and technical staff, outside of the formal academic courses offered at UCT for degree purposes. Most of these events are accredited with ECSA for CPD points.

Sandra Jemaar

Sandra is the Administrative Assistant in the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Programme in the EBE Faculty.

She admits and enrolls all CPD students; she also invoices them and issues their certificates of attendance.
